I beg to differ, I’d rather have a Fusion Sport. 325 HP, AWD, Magic Pothole glide technology. And it doesn’t have a CVT.

The Fusion looks pretty great and is apparently coming with the 2.7 ttv6 now.
Also, the interior was made by Subaru. Not an issue for me but people keep assuring me it’s awful.

I can provide a couple...
-Transmission: First off, all engine options are equipped with a CVT. While CVT’s are pretty common in a few cars, this particular one is slow, does a bad job at simulating gears, and impedes on the car’s possible acceleration (the one I’ve driven was a 2.5i. I’d assume the 3.6R would be more brisk, but I still feel that the transmission would hold it back) A VW Passat 3.6 is priced comparatively to a 3.6R legacy, and has a comparatively much better transmission, as it features VAG’s ubiquous DSG Twin-Clutch.
-economy: While standard 4WD is a great feature, it gives the Legacy sub par MPG's in comparison to the comp. granted gas is cheap, but it is still worse

Toyota and Honda are MUCH more reliable than Subaru and get better mpg and lower running costs.

Nothing wrong with FWD. Heaviest part of the car over front wheels will be fine in the snow, and it's still winter tires that make the biggest difference.

And, more importantly, has this interior.
Meanwhile, the Legacy looks pretty much identical to the new Hyundai Sonata.

Because it could burn one of these between oil changes? Side note, I think I’m at 1qt/2000 miles right now and the car only has 30k on the odo. (2013 outback 2.5l FB engine). Otherwise I love the car....

That's the worst looking stitching I've ever seen on a car, and I love diamond sticking. Looks pressed rather than stitched.

Jetta GLI comes in price wise between the 2.5 and 3.6 legacy. It offers a manual or a DSG(both of which are way better than a CVT) and should be a bit faster. It’s labeled a compact but it’s very similar in size to the legacy. Mileage is equivalent, looks are a toss up. It’s FWD but I don’t think that’s a big negative between these two cars. The aftermarket and tuning options are way better on the 2.0. And reliability should be similar.
![]() 03/05/2016 at 23:56 |
|
Subaru should offer a FWD Legacy with the 2.0 engine, and offer the Impreza 1.6 FWD over here.
FWD and snow tires is usually sufficient. Besides, head gaskets cost more than snow tires :p

New Subaru interiors are up to par with the competition.
![]() 03/06/2016 at 01:12 |

Eh, I think it depends. The WRX interior, at least, still feels a bit plasticy and cheap. My Focus ST, as an example, managed to feel a bit more solid inside.
Like I said, it doesn’t bother me. As long as the interior is well laid-out and doesn’t squeak or rattle I’m fine with it.

Ive got one: Trying to find one in stock on a local dealers lot!
But im with you. Its a great car. Great features. AWD. Awesome engine. And looks great.

Lacking power in the bottom trims. That 175 hp is super lagging without using manual mode, and even still not that great.
Also, it doesn’t handle nearly as well as some competition.
The trunk is smaller than others as well, if you care about that.
All that said, I was impressed with the car in general, and found the interior the best in its class.
I’d still go for a fusion with the 1.5 eco boost.
![]() 03/06/2016 at 10:51 |
|
Which would be great if anyone could build a CVT to handle more than 300hp. And I’ve hand my hands inside of a Subaru CVT, the one behind the new WRX automatic. It isn’t a stellar design.

My mother’s 2014 Legacy is in every way worse than her 2005 Legacy GT. It’s not as comfortable, it’s not as quiet, it doesn’t look as good, the stereo is worse, and it’s obviously slower. It doesn’t even consume less oil. Subaru took a step back. I’d look at Accord, Ford, or Mazda first.
